2022 Summer Classes

2019 Summer Camp Learning Parts of the B

Oak Harbor Youth Sailing's summer sailing classes are a fun way to learn how to sail, hone skills, and experience time on the water with friends. All classes are taught by US Sailing Level 1 Certified Instructors.

We are excited for our 2022

summer classes! Registration for summer

classes opens March 17th at 12:00pm.

On the first day, instructors will conduct

swim checks and capsize drills for all

participants. Participants must be able to

swim with a life jacket on and be

comfortable in the water.

Beginning Opti classes focus on water safety, basic sailing skills, basic sailing vocabulary, and how and why boats sail. This class is designed for sailors age 9-15 who are new to sailing or new to sailing in a boat by themselves. Many sailors repeat this class at least once before moving on to the intermediate class.

Intermediate Opti classes focus on mastering and building on sailing techniques learned in the Beginning Opti class and an intro to sailboat racing. Students must have permission from instructors before signing up.

Teen Intro to Racing class focuses on teamwork, racing, and sailing in doublehanded boats. This class is designed for sailors age 13-18 who are interested in joining the Wildcat Race Team.

Adult Beginning Dinghy Sailing classes are offered Monday and Wednesday evenings 5-8pm. Sessions will include an online classroom course as well as four in-person evening sailing sessions in small groups. This class is designed for adults who are new to sailing or small boat sailing. Sailing will be done in a two person Lido 14.
